Welcome to Aura! We're thrilled to have you as part of our vibrant community. At Aura, your privacy is our top priority. We deeply value your trust and are committed to safeguarding your personal information. Our mission is to keep things personal and real while ensuring your data is protected. If you're under 13, Aura isn't for you — please come back when you're older.

This Privacy Policy is part of the User Agreement, which also includes our Terms of Service (“Terms”). It's designed to make sure you know what information we collect about you, how we use it, when we share it, and the controls we provide you to manage the information you share with us. Throughout the User Agreement, some words have specific meanings and should be interpreted consistently.

2. Information We Collect About You

We collect data that you provide directly to us, as well as data we collect through your use of our services. Here's a breakdown:

Data You Provide to Us

Account Creation Data: Your name (first and last), phone number, date of birth, and profile picture.

Contacts Data: We request access to your contact list to help you find and invite your friends to Aura. This information is used solely for that purpose.

Location Data:To enable geofencing features, we collect and store your location data in our onboarding process. Location is mandatory during the initial stage to ensure geofencing works correctly, but we do not track or collect your location in the background.

Additional Information: Optional data such as your email address and location (timezone and country).

Content Data

Content You Create: This includes the moments you create, profile photos, photos, videos, emojis, captions, comments, and messages.

Communications with Aura

Support and Feedback: When you contact us for support, respond to surveys, or provide feedback, we collect the content of your messages and any additional information you choose to provide.

Data We Collect When You Use Our Services

Usage Data: Interactions with the app, moment participation history, actions performed within Aura, and other usage metrics.

Connection and Technical Data: IP address, account creation date, last login, operating system, system configuration data, pages and content viewed, and device identifiers.

Interaction Data: Friends, number of friends, friend invitations, comments you leave on content shared by others, and functional data related to comments or messages.

Performance Metrics: App performance, such as the time certain functions take to run or certain actions take to be completed within the app.

Permissions Data: We collect information on which permissions you have enabled on Aura. This data is collected for analytics purposes and used to inform future product improvements.

3. How We Use Information We Receive About You

We use your data thoughtfully and carefully to bring you our services. Here's how:

• Operation and Improvement: To create and manage your account, display content, identify content or accounts that may interest you, and improve our services. Location data is used for geofencing purposes.
• Safety and Security: To ensure the safety and security of our users and services, and to comply with relevant laws and regulations.
• Communications: To communicate with you about features, respond to your inquiries, and support you.
• Analytics: To measure the effectiveness and performance of our services, understand how users interact with Aura, and track permissions and location data to ensure geofencing accuracy.

4. When We Share Information About You

We only share your information when it's necessary to provide our services or required by law. Here's when and why we share data:

• Content Moderation Platforms: To ensure compliance with our content guidelines.
• Service Providers: Partners who help with technical support, hosting, notifications, and analytics. We share your information to enable these services.
• Legal Requirements: When required by law, or to address fraud, security concerns, or protect users from harm.
• Change in Ownership: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale, your data may be transferred. This Privacy Policy would continue to apply to your information.

5. Your Rights Over Your Information

You have several rights regarding your personal data. Here's what you can do:

• Access: Request access to your personal data.
• Correction: Request corrections to any inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as needed to provide our services. Here's a general overview of how long we keep different types of data:

• Account Creation Data: Retained as long as you have an active account.
• Content Data: Retained as long as you have an active account or until you delete the content.
• Location Data: Retained to ensure geofencing works correctly and for analytics purposes. Location data is only collected and stored when you actively interact with geofencing-related features.
• Contact Data: Retained as long as you have an active account.
• Communications with Aura: Retained for no longer than 24 months. This includes any support requests, feedback, or other communications you have with us.
• Connection and Technical Data: Retained for no longer than 24 months.
• Interaction Data: Retained as long as you have an active account or until the interaction is deleted.
• Usage Data: Retained for no longer than 24 months.

7. What Controls You Have Over Your Information

We provide you with controls to manage your information and how you interact with Aura:

• Notifications: You can control which notifications you receive about our services in the app settings.
• Delete Account: You can delete your account at any time through the app settings. The deletion process takes approximately 15 days. If you log back into your account during this period, it will stop the deletion request. If your account is permanently suspended, we will keep your account information (e.g., name, phone number) to prevent the creation of new accounts.

8. Children's Privacy

Aura is not intended for children under 13 years old. If you are under 13, please do not use Aura. Depending on where you live, if you are under the age of consent in your country, a parent or guardian may also have to provide consent for you to use our services. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information as soon as possible.

9. International Data Transfers

Aura may transfer your personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including the United States, where our servers are located. To ensure your data is protected, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and other approved mechanisms provided by Firebase and Google Cloud. These clauses and mechanisms provide a legal framework to ensure that your data receives adequate protection during such transfers. By using Aura, you consent to the transfer of your data to these countries.
